Pushing Pause

When I see you
everything stops and time inhales
Leaving just enough of a moment
to show the shimmer of sapphire
in your eyes.

And in the instant you come
swimming into view
light refracting
underwater, pristine and clear
the silence encompassing us
the world forgetting we exist

and we soar
a thousand miles
to somewhere remote
cool and quiet
the sun relaxing behind clouds-
a daydream.
but just for a moment

before time exhales
and we reluctantly
reawaken
to life.
